Sports
In addition to its shopping, cultural attractions and culinary delights, Zurich has plenty to offer sports fans. Tennis, squash and badminton players can choose from a large number of courts. Visit the numerous swimming pools and lidos, or try your hand at water skiing or wakeboarding on Lake Zurich. Further sports are described in more detail in the following.
Hiking
There is a wide choice of hiking trails in and around Zurich. One is on the Üetliberg. The 1½ to 2 hour walk from Uetliberg to Felsenegg not only offers impressive panoramic views of the city, the lake and the Alps; it also provides a fascinating insight into our solar system. Each meter along the Planet Trail from Uetliberg to Felsenegg corresponds to one million kilometers and covers the distance from the sun right out to Pluto. Signs along the path provide interesting information on each planet.
Mountain Biking
Mountain bikers can try out three technical mountain bike circuits of varying difficulty in the Zurichberg woods: Difficult circuit of 2.2km/80m altitude difference; average circuit of 1.7km/55m altitude difference; easy circuit of 1.5km/30m altitude difference, starting from Hanslinweg/Massenastrasse.
Golf
The Dolder Golf Club is situated in the center of Zurich. This difficult 9-hole course requires precision playing. The many slopes, hidden and small greens and narrow fairways make the course even more difficult. Another club nearby is theGolf & Country Club Zurich with an 18-hole course.
Climbing
The Gaswerk climbing center in Schlieren is the largest climbing hall in the world. 190 different routes at levels 3 (beginner) to 11 (professional) can be climbed on 3,200 square meters of wall space. A new outdoor facility has recently been opened. Now over 200 people can climb at once.
Monday Night Skate
The official inline skate tour through Zurich attracts up to 800 participants. The tour takes place every second Monday in dry weather and is suitable for both beginners and advanced skaters.
